The Director, Finance and Administration is responsible for the integrity of SOC's financial system and overseeing office administration and operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial
-
Assist the CEO in developing and monitoring the SOC consolidated annual budget and provide pro-active and ongoing analysis with respect to variances and trends and recommendations for action;

Assist the staff in developing and monitoring program budgetrs and preparing monthly claims and financial reports to funders;

Ensure the ongoing integrity of SOC's financial systems and financial reporting to the Finance and Audit Committee, National Board of Directors, and funders;
-
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll services and cash management;
-
Manage the donor and receipting function to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting to donor and partnership funds;

Keep abreast of regulatory changes specific to this category;

Liaise with the banks and external auditors;

Manage the annual audit and returns to CRA;

Manage the annual accreditation process;
Human Resources
-
Oversee the general HR function;

Perform HR functions such as administering the benefits plan, maintaining up-to-date personnel policies and records, and keeping SOC's financial and administration policies and procedures up to date;

Surpervise accounting personnel;
Office Administration

Ensure a well coordinated office environment to guarantee productivity;

Manage office lease and various other contracts for office equipment, insurance, IT, CRM and others as applicable;

Oversee technology needs and keep the office up-to-date in technology within the available resources;

Ensure the flow of office operations and office interpersonal relations;
Management & Planning

Work with the management team to develop strategic plans for the ongoing and future growth of SOC;

Work with Chapters to develop standardized reporting and explore potential economies of scale.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and abilities:

Thorough knowledge of accounting, tax, auditing and financial processes relating to the charitable category;

Knowledge of budgeting and procurement principles and practices as applied to charitable agencies;

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills including ability to resolve complex budgeting and financial issues and review and comprehend statistical data and financial reports;

Ability to develop and implement internal financial controls, policies and procedures affecting financial management of organizations funds and operating and program budgets;
-
CA Designation with 6 to 10 years experience in the charitable category;

Proficeint communication (both verbal and written) and presentations skills
-
Given the nature of this position a high level of discretion and diplomacy

Ability to work in a flexible team environment with a focus on internal and external service;

Bilingualism is an asset.
